JK first to have pro audit in health department
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Jammu, Mar 24: The Jammu and Kashmir has achieved the distinction of becoming the first state where professional audit in the health department has been introduced to bring work culture, transparency and accountability in healthcare delivery system.
Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma said today that this has helped in bringing improvements in the last one year in existing peripheral health institutions in terms of infrastructure, equipment and manpower and also in making progress in institutional deliveries and major surgeries.
Improvement in infrastructure and manpower in government hospitals has restored the faith of the public in peripheral institutions resulting in decrease in referrals, the Minister said while releasing copies of “Professional Audit”- a performance review document on the functioning of health department in the state.
Sharma said the monthly findings of the audit are available on departmental website www.Jkhealth.Org.
