Bank launches smart cards at Sanghani, Chakra villages

Jammu, Mar 24: Drawing upon the merging domains of technology and finance, J&K Bank launched and distributed Smart Cards at village Sanghani Tehsil Akhnoor and Village Chakra Tehil Bishnah in Jammu division.
The issuance of such smart cards, mostly in the areas that remain far off from the city centres, is part of a larger initiative of the bank taken to bring in more and more people in the formal fold of banking, the bank in a statement said.
In this connection a function was organized under the banner of ‘Financial Inclusion’ in collaboration with RBI that is celebrating its Platinum Jubilee.
In his inaugural address at the function Narinder Singh, Manager Reserve Bank of India, said, “J& K Bank is going all out for the larger goals of financial inclusion with major thrust on the rural areas and the issuance of these smart cards focuses on the unbanked population making use of Biometric technology, whereby thumb impressions are captured and saved for secure future transactions”.
He said that Khidmat Centers established by J&K Bank will facilitate both the collection and payments of cash through the use of these smart cards.
Adarsh Gupta and Sunil Gupta J&K Bank Business Cluster Heads for village Sanghani and Village Chakra highlighted various state and central sponsored schemes of self employment initiated by the bank for rural uplift and poverty elevation.
Both the Cluster Heads informed the gatherings that their villages have been identified for CSC centres under National E governance plan and bank shall shortly start Khidmat Centre to offer multitude of services in the areas of banking, Agriculture, Computer Education, Health Commerce Etc
The function was attended by Various Bank/Government officials and local people.
