JKLF (R), PFL concerned at detainees’ plight
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) vice-chairman, Tahir Ahmad Mir, has expressed concern over the deplorable plight of pro-freedom detainees in jails outside state.
In a statement today, Mir said these detainees deserved the utmost attention of the human rights organizations as “they have remained away from their focus”. He said these detainees were languishing in jails and enduring untold miseries. “Although the Indian parliament has declared as unlawful and inhuman the TADA Act and revoked it, yet there are cases of hundreds of pro-freedom people going on in TADTA courts. Several have been awarded long imprisonments and most of them denied medical aid in jails. Many died as a result of denial of medical aid,” he said adding several persons had been languishing in jails despite court orders for their release.
Meanwhile, Peoples’ Freedom League has also expressed concern over the plight of Kashmiri detainees.
In a statement, League spokesman said “the detainees were meted out inhuman treatment.” “In these jails the International human rights laws and jail laws are thrown to winds and detainees deprived of every basic facility.”
