Plantation drive at Balhama

Srinagar, Mar 25: On the occasion of World Arbor Day, the staff and students of Government High School Balhama in north Kashmir’s Varmul district planted hundreds of trees in its premises.
 During the drive, the students and staff members planted deodar and other trees in the School. The drive was supervised by its teacher Muhammad Ashraf Khan and headmaster GR Wani.
 On the occasion, Khan who has been campaigning for environmental protection underscored the importance of trees.
 “We need to organise massive plantation drive in the forests which have suffered damages during the past two decades. In absence of trees, there would be rise in temperature and decrease in rainfall,” Khan said while urging the Government to encourage plantation of trees.
