Stipend to unemployed youth from April: Govt

Srinagar, Mar 25: Minister for Finance Abdul Rahim Rather has said the present coalition government has formulated comprehensive developmental programmes under which all the areas of the state would get equal share of progress and prosperity. Speaking at a function organised by Rural Development and Social Welfare departments, Rather said the unemployment problem was the burning issue and the government was keen to overcome the problem.
He said the unemployed youth would be provided stipend from April 2010. He said the coalition government in its 15 months tenure has provided Government jobs to more than 20,000 educated unemployed youth. He appealed the people to make the proper use of power and said that state has received only Rs 640 crore bearing a loss of Rs 1400 crore during the current year.
He said the first phase of 450 MW Baghliar Power Project has been completed, while work on its second phase with a cost of Rs. 3000 crore would be stated soon.
