Bar rejects bilateral talks
ON JALEEL ANDRABI’S ANNIVERSARY

Srinagar, Mar 27: The High Court Bar Association today said the bilateral talks between India and Pakistan were futile and won’t lead to the resolution of Kashmir issue.
Speaking at a seminar organised in memory of advocate Jaleel Andrabi, the Bar president Mian Abdul Qayoom said the solution to Kashmir dispute lies in implementation of UN resolutions. Qayoom prayed tributes to Jaleel Andrabi whom he described as visionary lawyer.
Advocate Arshid Andrabi, brother of Jaleel Andrabi, gave detailed account of life of his brother. “My brother,” he said, was committed to the cause of Kashmir.
Former Bar president Nazir Ahmad Ronga said intellectuals should play their role in their respective fields to bring positive change in the society.
In his welcome address Bar secretary advocate G N Shaheen paid tributes to Andrabi.
Shakeel Bakshi drew the attention of audience towards the demographic changes and alleged that slowly Muslim majority character of the State was being changed.
Mushtaq-ul-Islam said the intellectuals should shun hypocrisy and play positive role.
Dr Hamida Nayeem said, “Intelligentsia have to demystify, unmask ideology and dogma under which our own people are taking us on ride.”
Hamida emphasised that the intelligentsia have to raise embarrassing questions against the political class of our society.
