Govt serious on value addition in cocoon

Jammu, Mar 27: Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir informed the House that the Government was keen to take up value addition of the end product in the State itself to boost sericulture activities here. Replying to a question by Ch. Muhammad Aslam asked by M Y Targami on his behalf, the Minister said that the Centre has been very liberal in providing all type of assistance to promote sericulture in Jammu and Kashmir, to check the imports from China. He said that certain incentives are being provided to the prospective sericulturalists in the shape of assistance for plantation and infrastructure, technical and market support. Replying to a question by Radhey Sham Sharma, Minister for Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Aga Ruhullah assured the House that fencing of the land acquired for Sheep Farm at Village Kalsian, Nowshehra would be taken up during the next financial year.
