Agri deptt holds 1-day workshop

Srinagar, Mar 28: The Agriculture Department held a one-day workshop on Agriculture Extension-Mass Media Campaign at Lalmandimi, here.
Director Agriculture Kashmir Mian Abdul Majeed on the workshop said the media should ensure sharing of farm skills and awareness about opportunities of cooperation between the department and the farming community.
The director said the media is the best tool of empowerment through dissemination of information.
The director advised the farmers to take advantage of the schemes launched by the department and cooperate with the Extension Agencies in implementing all the programmes and schemes in the ultimate endeavour of making the state self-sufficient.
Experts advised the farmers to adopt Agri-diversification through installation of income generation units like Mushroom cultivation, Bee Keeping, floriculture & Vegetable cultivation.
A large number of progressive farmers attended the workshop, the department in a statement said.
