Government won't do everything, we must do it ourselves

I agree with the letter titled ''Our backbone'' by Suhaib Rasool Rather. Dal Lake is the most attractive places we have in the Valley. It was once a very clean lake, but its condition is really pathetic today. It is high time to think about restoration and conservation of this asset so that the locals and tourists don’t feel dismayed on seeing it. We should not leave everything to the government and other departments. We too must develop a sense of responsibility and contribute to Dal conservation in whatever the way we can. It is only a coordinated effort that can lead us anywhere. Otherwise we won’t be able to preserve anything, including the Dal lake, which is backbone of our economy.
