PDP accuses Gul of violating norms

Jammu, Mar 2: In wake of a media report that Chief Minister’s Advisor Mubarak Gul had allegedly entered into a deal with Doordarshan for producing programmes, the Peoples Democratic Party today raised the issue and accused him of violating rules.
 During zero hour in the Assembly, PDP’s Mansoor Hussain alleged Gul had misused his official position as CM’s advisor. Displaying the report, the member demanded probe and said an MLA could not hold an office of profit and should be dismissed.
 Gul reacted to the allegations and said he would resign if charges against him of obtaining Rs 18 lakh worth contract from DD Kashir when he was a MLA were proved.
 “I was not an MLA when I applied for programmes and appeared for the interview,” he said.
 As the PDP members demanded probe into the report, Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone intervened and said he would inquire into it. “It seems to be a conspiracy against him. Gul had come to me and declared that he would contest the allegation. He would sue the newspaper and member who levelled allegation,” Lone said.

Govt adopting discriminatory policies: Mehbooba
 The opposition leader Mehbooba Mufti today resented, to what she called the “discriminatory policies adopted by the government” in releasing the additionalties.
 Reacting to the government reply in Assembly, she said District Development Boards meetings had “failed to fulfill its spirit as government had been working in a vindictive manner.”
 She mentioned how MLAs of opposition parties were allegedly snubbed in these meetings at Rajouri and Pulwama.
