Saroori invites legislators to travel on Mughal Road in June

Jammu, Mar 29: The R&B Minister, G M Saroori on Monday said Rs 1467 crore had been earmarked under the 7th phase of Prime Minister Grameen Sadak Yojna for the state.
 Replying to the debate on Demand of Grants of the Departments, Saroori said the requisite process including tendering would be initiated after approval.
 He dwelt on the steps for improving and upgrading of various roads, adding 21357 km road length was being maintained by department. He said for maintaining the roads, the department needs the services of 4000 gang-coolies.
 He said Rs 65 crore each was spent on macadamization of roads in Srinagar and Jammu.
 Referring to bridges, he said that 108 major bridges were being completed through JKPCC adding work on 102 major bridges would be undertaken this year.
 He said the Centre had sanctioned Rs 9377 crore for four laning of the Srinagar-Jammu Highway, including construction of two long tunnels adding the tendering for the first phase had been completed and by April-May it will be completed for other phases.
 Terming Mughal Road as dream come true for the State, he said the road would be open for light vehicles in June and invited Members to travel to Srinagar this season through this road to make the auspicious beginning. 
 He said the Government plans to construct tunnels at Zojila Pass to connect Kashmir with Kargil and Leh in Ladakh, Sadhna Pass to connect Bandipora with Gurez, Razdan Pass tunnel to connect Kupwara with Tangdar, Kapran-Chatragul tunnel to connect Gool Gulab Garh area of Jammu with Banihal, Kulgam in Kashmir round the year.
