‘Autonomy only viable solution to K-problem’

Ganderbal, Mar 4: National Conference leader and Member Legislative Council, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool today said autonomy was the only viable solution to the Kashmir problem.
Addressing a gathering here after his nomination as MLC, he said the autonomy was the only means of developing confidence and removing mistrust among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“National Conference leadership is keen to address the long pending solution of the Jammu and Kashmir and time is ripe for India to accept and support what Pandit Jawaharlal Lal Nehru promised to Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah at Lal Chowk in 1953,” he said.
He added that his party was open for discussion on the issue even if any solution better than autonomy was put forth.
Earlier, a large number of party workers, locals and his supporters welcomed him on his arrival.
Chanting slogans in his favour they marched towards his residence, he was accompanied by NC Provincial president, Ali Muhammad Dar, Joint Secretary Ghulam Nabi Bhat, District President Abdul Rehman Mir and the other party officials.
