AHD holds camp for farmers

Srinagar, Mar 4: A camp on “Infertility in Cows and Heifers” was organised by the Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir at Repora, Block Lar on Wednesday under the centrally sponsored scheme “RKVY”.
More than 50 farmers from the area participated which included a chunk of women-farmers, the department in a statement said.
Giving details it said in the forenoon session, animals brought to the camp were thoroughly examined and about 40 cows and heifers were diagnosed to have one or the other of the following problems: Under-developed genitalia, Anoestrous, Cystic Ovaries, Cervicitis, and Repeat-breeding.
The technical advice and managemental counselling was provided for each of the animals examined.
In the afternoon session, the participants re-assembled for listening to the experts on the issues of Bovine Infertility.
Lectures were delivered on all aspects of Infertility covering the problem under the following heads in simple and plain Kashmiri.
Bovine Infertility & its Causes by Dr.Qazi Reyaz; Heat and its Detection & its effect on fertility by Dr.Azhar; Effects of Nutrition on Fertility in Cows & Heifers by Dr.Haneif; Artificial Insemination and its role in Bovine Fertility by Dr.Masood; Post-parturient problems and their effects on Bovine Fertility by Dr.Nasrullah.
