Couple attempts suicide

Jammu, Mar 7: A couple allegedly attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Kathua as their family members were opposed their relationship.
 Surnam Singh (22) and the 19-year-old girl took the extreme step last night, police said, adding they were in a relationship for the past five years.
 The couple had told their families that they wanted to marry but their parents were against it.
 Both were seen by villagers in an unconscious state in the fields, they said, adding they were shifted from Billawar hospital to GMC hospital here as their condition was critical.
