‘FCI restores sugar supply to JK’

Jammu, Mar 8: Minister of state for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Shabir Ahmed Khan today informed the Legislative Council that 12800 quintals of atta and 4990 quintals of rice were distributed to rationees as per approved central scale of rice besides, additional food grains @ 15 kg per ration ticket in Shopian and Kellar Blocks during February 2010.
The Minister, according to an official statement, was replying to a joint a Calling Attention Notice of Muhammad Yousuf Taing and Bashir Ahmed Magray regarding scarcity of ration in various areas of Shopian and Kellar blocks in Kashmir.
Shabir said that supplies of sugar, which had slowed down on account of poor procurement of levy sugar from the Central Government, have now been restored by Food Corporation of India to the State and sugar is being provided now as per approved scale of 700 gms per soul per month to the rationees.
