SYED AMJAD SHAH

Jammu, Mar 8: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday claimed that there were 180 militants active in the hilly areas of Jammu region.
“The policy of scout, seek and kill remained the most effective in eliminating militants. There are around 180 militants still operating in the mountainous regions of Jammu region,” said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Range, Ashok Kumar Gupta.
“We are expecting more infiltration bids with the onset of summer,” he said.
He claimed that police has killed at least 10 commanders of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) across the Jammu region by launching `surgical strikes’ in Pir Panjal area of the state.
“At least 21 women Over Ground Worker are active in the remote parts of erstwhile Doda district,” he added.
“Instead of big SOG teams of 20 to 30 members, we formed small teams of 5 to 6 men,” he said adding this has given us better results.
