No reconciliation with Geelani: Jama’at Amir
Srinagar, May 9: The Jama’at-e-Islami today said there was no question of reconciliation with Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and if he doesn’t respond to the explanation sought, action in accordance with the party constitution would be taken.
Addressing a meeting at Dialgam in Islamabad, Amir-e-Jama’at, Sheikh Ghulam Hassan said, “Our differences with Geelani would continue till he voices condemnation against the book. Jama’at has its own constitution and we won’t do away with it. If Geelani will not reply to show cause notice within two months, action in accordance with constitution would be initiated against him.”
Sheikh said he had no contact with Geelani and till the issue wasn’t settled, Jama’at would boycott all programmes of Hurriyat (G).
The Jama’at also warned the government that if eight percent reservation in recently passed inter-district recruitment bill was not shelved, they would intensify the protests against it. “The government is trampling over the rights of Kashmiri Muslims and it won’t be allowed at any cost. If the bill isn’t shelved, Jama’at will start agitation in all the districts of Kashmir,” he warned.
He supported the High Court Bar Association’s strike call. “We endorses all the programmes of HCBA.”
Sheikh said Kashmir issue couldn’t be settled till India shelves “stubborn approach.” “Till India won’t fulfill its promise made with Kashmiris, the issue can’t be settled,” he added. (KNS)
