Ensure adequate supply of fertilizer to farmers: Mir

Srinagar, May 10: Minster for Agriculture and production, Ghulam Hassan Mir has directed to ensure the adequate supply of fertilizer to the farmers of the state during Kharief season and asked the both the Directors of Agriculture Kashmir and Jammu to personally monitor its distribution in their respective jurisdictions so that the farmers of the state should not face any in connivance for the same.
The decision to this effect, according to an official statement, was taken in a review meeting chaired by the Minister to take stock position of fertilizers in the state in his first day at Srinagar secretariat this morning. The meeting was attended by Director Agriculture Jammu, Ajay Khajuria, Controller of Fertilizers, J&K and representatives of M/s National Fertilizers Limited, IFFCO and M/s Chambals Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd.
Mir directed the Fertilizer Companies to immediately resolve the freight charge issues from taking point to block headquarters for the DAP and other fertilizers coming under the NBS regime. The Minister also spoke to Secretary, Chemicals and Fertilizers of Union Ministry of Agriculture, New Delhi on phone regarding the problem of freight charges and requested to issue appropriate directions to the Fertilizer Companies to resolve this issue immediately so that the distribution would not be effected.
