“About 50000 people participated in the Ijtima,” said Jama’at spokesman.
The Amir-e-Jama’at, Sheikh Muhammad Hassan, the secretary general Dr Hamid Fayaz and other office-bearers and Ulema addressed the meeting.
The speakers threw light on Jama’at stand on the Kashmir issue urging the UN to play effective role in resolving it through the implementation of its resolutions. They said Jama’at always aspired to see improvement in relations between Indian and Pakistan. “But Kashmir issue is the main cause of conflict between these two neighbouring countries. Once this issue is settled, the relations will improve and peace and progress in the whole region will follow,” they said.
The speakers expressed concern over the eight per cent reservation to schedule castes in jobs in all district of state, terming it unjust and ant-Muslim step by the government. They demanded immediate release of all the political detainees.
