Srinagar, May 13: The Governor, N N Vohra, on Thursday reviewed the arrangements for the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra commencing from July 1.
The Governor, who is also the Chairman of the Shri Amarntah Shrine Board (SASB), chaired a high level meeting of the security and other top officials here.
He stressed on the need for timely putting in place of all the required security related arrangements, and called for securing greater synergy among the various departments, security forces, SASB and other concerned agencies.
The meeting deliberated upon wide-range of issues including the enforcement of an effective access control system at both the base camps, effective traffic regulation, deployment of Mountain Rescue Teams on the Sheshnag route, setting up of the Joint Control Rooms and Disaster Management Centres, ATC arrangements for the heli-services for the Pahalgam and Baltal routes and location of various services at identified plots.
Mobiles to ring during yatra Amarnath pilgrims visiting this year will enjoy the mobile connectivity enroute and at shrine.
“Amarnath cave shrine and enroute will now have mobile connectivity and landline service via Pahalgam and Baltal routes these facilities will be provided by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL),” sources said.
They said the BSNL was working out a detailed plan to provide necessary facilities to Amarnath pilgrims by installing infrastructure.
