Omar interacts with foreign dignitaries

Srinagar, May 14: The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, on Friday interacted with foreign dignitaries representing an international humanitarian organization “Save the Children.
The interaction was followed by a musical bonanza by the artists of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, a spokesman of the academy said.
He said after the musical bonanza the Chief Secretary, S S Kapur hosted meals for the guests. The event was attended by a number of senior officers of the civil services cadre. The “Save the Children” delegation comprising 26 delegates from different countries of the world was represented by Director Advocacy, Campaign and Communication, Shireen Miller.
The musical groups which performed at SKICC included Gulzar Ganai and party, Vishwa Nath and party, Mir Muneer, and Jameela Khan.
The programme mesmerised the gathering to the extent that they couldn’t resist the temptation to reciprocate through cheers, and clapping.
Earlier welcoming the guests, Ashfaq Lone, anchor of the programme, gave a brief introduction of the state’s multicultural ethos so as to educate the visiting dignitaries about the richness of Kashmiri culture.
The interesting part of the programme was that although the foreign dignitaries did not understand the local languages, they were highly impressed by the musical treat.
“It was a nice event. We enjoyed a lot,” said Thomas Chandi, Chief Executive Officer, Save the Children, India.
