Coaliation doesn’t identify with masses: Mehbooba
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, May 16: Accusing the National Conference led coalition government of failing to carry forward the political and developmental agenda, the Peoples Democratic Party president, Mehbooba Mufti, on Sunday said government’s “inability” to identify with the people can prove disastrous for the state.
Mehbooba, according to a party statement, alleged the government stood exposed before the people and had lost credibility. “In just one and a half year of its formation, the government stands exposed as it hasn’t done anything to honour the mandate of people,” she said.
She claimed it was due to “pro-people” policies of the PDP-led coalition government that the common masses “identified themselves with the government.”
Mehbooba was speaking at a one-day card-holders conference at Hazratbal here. “People had overwhelmingly supported the steps taken by the PDP-led regime for the betterment of people. We also launched beautification drive in the city,” she said. “National Conference has failed to carry forward the process of political resolution, not to speak of taking any fresh initiative. Instead, the government reversed the process by failing to reach out to the masses.”
She expressed concern over the “mounting problems” faced by the people in the power and water sectors. “The coalition government has failed to deliver,” she alleged.
She alleged that arrest of one Imran from Kupwara “who used to lure youth to join security forces and later got them killed in fake encounter was an eye opener.” “The matter should be probed,” she demanded.
Senior PDP leader, Tariq Hamid Karra, district president Ashraf Mir and Aishya Naqash also spoke on the occasion.
