Relax age

Recently the Public Service Commission came out with a notification for Combined Services Examination. It is a welcome step that after a gap of two years the PSC has acted promptly and advertised the posts. Earlier it took almost five years for the recruitment agency to advertise new posts for the KAS. Also the system was not streamlined so that so exams could be held in time. They were just conducting examinations as per their choice. But in the recent notification PSC has reduced the age limit for the open candidates to 35 and in service to 37. Earlier it was 37 and 40 respectively. It is obvious that JKPSC is trying to copy things from UPSC by reducing the age-limit. The PSC should keep in mind the unique position and circumstances in our state. Because of these circumstances, the centre government has already given an age relaxation of 5 years to candidates from Kashmir valley in all central government posts, including IAS. Also upper age limit in other government departments is already higher than mentioned by the JKPSC for KAS. The PSC move is just illogical and unjust.
