New Delhi diluting JK’s Muslim identity: Geelani
UMER MAQBOOL DAR
Kupwara, May 17: The Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Shah Geelani, on Monday alleged that New Delhi had hatched a conspiracy to reduce Muslim majority into minority in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Kashmiris have been demanding plebiscite for the past six decades but government of India has been ignoring the demand to ensure that Muslim majority is converted into a minority,” Geelani said while addressing a gathering here, nearly 90 kms from Srinagar, in north Kashmir.
Geelani said that a “strategy has been formulated to include non-locals” in the forthcoming census. “This is a part if plan to dilute the Muslim identity of the state,” he added.
He urged people to remain cautious of non-locals.
Referring to the eight per cent reservation for schedule castes in inter-district recruitment bill, Geelani said, “This will not only increase unemployment, but will also change the population ratio.”
