Beyond engineering

This refers to the box letter titled “Let’s think beyond engineering and medicine” (GK, May 15) by Akhter Rasool. The writer has rightly pointed out the inefficiency of coaching institutions. My question to all Kashmiri students is while they are studying in middle or secondary schools, how many of them know that they are going to do engineering or MBBS? We must focus on subjects which can help us broaden our horizons. We only concentrate on passing the examinations. That is not done.
