SP College hosts program on Sheikh Ul Alam’s life

Srinagar, May 18: Relevance of Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA)’s message in contemporary times. An extension lecturer-cum-out reach programme on the topic was Tuesday organized by SP College in collaboration with Markaz-e-Noor, Sheikh-ul-Alam Chair, Kashmir University at the college auditorium.
 The KU, VC Prof Reyaz Punjabi who was Chief Guest on the occasion threw light on the life and teachings of the saint.
 Professor Punjabi hailed the role of SP College in the spread of higher education in Kashmir.
 Eminent scholars Justice Ghulam Nabi Gowhar, Prof Manzoor Fazili and Prof Bashar Bashir, Chairman Markaz-e-Noor Sheikh-ul-Alam Chair delivered extension lecturers.
 A college handout said the function started with College Tarana sung by the collegeans. “Miss Masarat, a girl from Charar-e-Sharief recited couplets of Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA),” it added.
 Prof Zahoor Ahmad Chatt, Principal of SP College, in his welcome address, highlighted the achievements of the college and stressed that there was a desperate need to link the message of the saint to the contemporary needs of the society, where in the Higher Education Department has a role to play. Later, the KU, VC released the annual journal of Markaz-e-Noor ALAMDAR. The function was conducted by Prof Muhammad Afzal Mir, Staff Secretary SP College. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof Ezaz Hussain Rizvi Convener Extra Circular Committee SP College.
