3 killed in quarry collapse

AZIM JAN

Bandipora, May 1: Three stone quarry labourers were killed and five others wounded at Kohistan Colony Safapora in this north Kashmir district Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Mehrajudin Sofi son of Ghulam Hassan Sofi, Muhammad Yosuf Bhat and Bashir Ahmad.
Eyewitnesses said that the incident occurred at 4 pm when the labourers were busy with loading trucks. “Suddenly a large mass of stones came sliding down which hit them resulting in instant death of two persons. One more injured labourer died later,” they said.
The injured include Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Ghulam Muhammad Kuchay, Merajudin Kuttay, Abdul Khaliq and Bashir Ahmad Laharwal. (With inputs from Sheikh Nazir)
