Students suffer in absence of classroom
‘One lecturer teaches 7 subjects’
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, May 1: Students pursuing Mass Communication and Multimedia Production course at Government College for Women, M A Road, are “suffering” in absence of staff and classroom.
According to students, only one contractual lecturer has been engaged for seven subjects to be taught during the three-year bachelor’s programme. “We don’t have a classroom of our own, not to talk of the MCMP Department,” a delegation of students told Greater Kashmir.
The course, they said, has been started without any basic infrastructure in place. “We don’t expect hi-end equipment as the course has just started. But at least we should have a classroom, some books relevant to the subject and more teachers. One teacher can’t teach all the courses,” the students said.
They said they have paid Rs 12000 as annual course fee. “And when we ask the authorities about all this, they cite paucity of funds,” the students said. “The College can engage some more contractual lecturers so that we don’t suffer.”
The WC Principal could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
