Housing colonies to come up at all district headquarters in JK

 Srinagar, May 19: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today convened a meeting of the officers of Housing Board and other concerned departments for setting up of Housing Colonies in the State.
 It was decided to set up new colonies at all District Headquarters of the State and explore the possibilities of setting up clusters colonies at these places and also construct flat type accommodation in the vicinity of Srinagar city and district headquarters. Some areas were identified for this purpose, which include Zakura, Shuhama and Mujgund in Srinagar district, Budgam, Kanipora, Anantnag, Varmul, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Kulgam and Bandipora.
 The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir has been asked to give the report regarding availability of land at all identified places within a week’s time following which a detailed meeting shall be taken up with the all Deputy Commissioners of the State. Various sources of funding shall be explored for setting up of such colonies like HUDCO loan and funding from J&K Bank. It was also decided to set up some commercial malls in the vicinity of Srinagar and Jammu cities. Besides, low cost housing colonies at various locations shall be set up for which the assistance shall be sought from the Union Ministry of Housing.
 Among others, Special Secretary Housing and Urban Development,   Javeed Ahmad Khan, Additional, Commissioner, Kashmir, Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar and other senior officers from Kashmir province were present in the meeting.
