Millionare prefers austerity on daughter’s marriage
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, May 20: A prominent businessman dealing in handicrafts and Tourism with clients as big as the White House on Thursday solemnised the marriage of his daughter with austerity at a local Masjid near his Lal Bazar residence.
The businessman said extravagance isn’t allowed in Islam adding that Muslims should not observe it while solemnizing marriages.
A cleric at the marriage function, held at Masjid-e-Bilal (RAA), Darul Aloom Bilaliya asked the people to shun extravagance and the pomp-and-show in solemnizing marriage.
He said extravagance at marriages was main reason of “moral degradation.”
“It all starts from sparing money by hook or crook for making marriage a big pomp and show where lakhs are spent on Wazwan, jewellery and dowry…,” he said.
The cleric said extravagance was also leading to “delayed marriages as some families can’t afford the pomp and show.”
