Diploma students allege exam delay

UMER MAQBOOL DAR

Srinagar, May 21: The students pursuing diploma in nursing, theatre assistants and allied courses in different institutions of the valley have accused the J&K State Medical Faculty of putting their careers at stake by not conducting examination on schedule.
These students said their examination were scheduled in October 2009, but have not been held till date by the Faculty, which is the authorized body for conducting exams in these courses.
“Six months have passed, but our exams have not been conducted,” they said and accused the Faculty of ruining the careers of 1500 students pursuing diploma in medical assistant, general nursing, multipurpose health workers, operation theatre technicians and other allied courses. “We filled up forms in March after the notification was issued, but exams have not been conducted till date,” Fayaz Ahmed, who is pursuing diploma in an institute, told Greater Kashmir.
When contacted director health services and president of JKSMF, Muhammad Amin Wani said “we are conducting the examinations in July–August.” “The session of some students end in March-April and others in June and we have decided to take their combined exams in July-August,” he said, adding the claims of students that their exams were scheduled in October was baseless. About the March notification, he said only some students were eligible for participating in the exams.
