Govt gunman sentenced for life

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar: In an 8-year-old gruesome murder case, the Kulgam Sessions Court convicted a government gunman and awarded him life imprisonment.
A local news agency KNS said on December 22, 2002, Nazir Ahmad Wagay alias Galwan son of Suna-Ullah of Khrey Batpora barged into the house of Abdul Hamid Teli son of Muhammad Ramzan and fired indiscriminately on the family in a broad day light. Hamid died on spot whereas his sister Rafiqa Bano got injured.
The locals staged demonstration against the killing forcing the police to arrest Nazir and register a case against him.
Police filed a challan against him in the Court.
On hearing the arguments, the Court convicted the accused in the murder of Abdul Hamid, sending him for life imprisonment on Thursday.
