6200 IG units established in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, May 22: A sum of Rs 59.66 crore have been advanced for setting up of 6269 income generating units up to end of March 2010 in Ganderbal district. This was revealed in a District Consultative Committee meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal. The meeting was also attended by various representatives of financial institutions, district officers and lead bank officer.
 Reviewing the achievements of banks, the meeting was told that under the agriculture sector, Rs. 9.36 crore were advanced up to end of the March 2010 for establishing of 1040 income generating units, while as under non-farm and SSI sector, Rs. 7.5 crore were advanced for setting up of 878 income generating units in the district. In addition, 2647 units have also been established under trade and services sector for which Rs. 43.25 crore have been advanced the district.
 The meeting was told that under government sponsored schemes 1037 beneficiaries were provided near about Rs. 8 crore as loan for creating of employment opportunities.
