NCW submits 7-new laws for enactment: Dr Girija

Srinagar, May 22: The National Commission for Women Chairperson, Dr Girija Vyas today revealed that it had submitted seven new laws to the GoI for enactment.
Addressing a workshop “Role of Society in Empowering Women” organized by the JK State Commission for Women in collaboration with NCM here, she said the Commission should be made more powerful to handle the situation arising due to increasing harassment to women, adding there were stringent laws, which needs to be enforced.
She said the NGOs and social organizations should come forward for empowering the women.
Speaker, Muhammad Akbar Lone asked the concerned to organize camps in remote areas to aware the women about their rights. He said the society should work for the upliftment and empowerment of the women.
Chairperson, SWC Advocate Shamima Firdous said the plight of women who were considered to be mentally, physically and financially dependent on their husbands had changed and were working in every field consider to be male dominated.
