Hurriyat (G) dares Omar to fight Geelani politically
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, May 25: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Tuesday asked the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to honour his commitment about leaving his opponents free to carry out their political activities, daring him to fight Syed Ali Shah Geelani politically.
Strongly condemning the continued house arrest of its chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the Hurriyat termed it unconstitutional and undemocratic.
Describing Geelani as popular leader, a spokesman of the Hurriyat today alleged that administration was playing with the sentiments of people by placing Geelani under house arrest every now and then. He warned such steps could trigger serious consequences.
"NC has always been getting harassed its political rivals at the hands of its tamed political officers. There is certainly some role of NC policy in triggering gory revolution in the state,” said the spokesman, asking the Chief Minister to honour his commitment that his government would not put curbs on the political activities of others.
The spokesman further dared Omar Abdullah to fight Geelani politically rather than resorting to policy of repression and suppression.
