JK pensioners hail DA release
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, May 25: J&K Pensioners’ Welfare Association has expressed satisfaction over the release of 8 per cent DA in cash in favour of state pensioners with effect from 01-01-2010.
In a statement here today association president Sampat Parkash said the decision has come at the most opportune time when the general price hike has hit the pensioners badly.
He hoped “the arrears on account of pay, gratuity and commutation are also released in favour of post-01-01-2006 retirees in two installments at the central pattern.”
Parkash said pensioners cannot wait for years to get the arrears as their requirements are far far greater than in-service employees.
He appealed the government to come forward with a comprehensive medi-care scheme for pensioners without loss of any time.
Criticizing the government for its “inaction” on 14-point charter of demand the pensioners have submitted to Finance Minister in Nov-2009, Parkash said the association has always avoided the path of confrontation.
While lauding the role of District, Tehsil and Block Committees of pensioners welfare association, Parkash expressed full satisfaction upon the working of the Team of activists and overwhelming participation and support of pensioners especially in strengthening the RTI movement in the state.
He said the RTI movement will be accelerated to ensure accountability and good governance.
Meanwhile, Parkash appealed to pensioners to contribute Rs 100 each through respective District Committees to the association to meet the expenditure of the central Body.
