Srinagar, May 26: Arsalan Reyaz, a 7th class student of a private school at Nowgam suffered a serious eye injury Tuesday when his Arts teacher allegedly thrashed him for leaving the class before finishing his drawing assignment.
According to Dr Reyaz Ahmad, student’s father, Arsalan had come down to the school compound to answer nature’s call but the teacher got annoyed on his leaving the class.
“He got infuriated and before the victim could reply his query as to why he had left the class room, the teacher started beating him with a stick resulting in injury to his left eye,” the father said.
“The boy was rushed to an ophthalmologist who has put him under seven day observation,” the family said.
Today following some complication, the patient was rushed to a leading eye care center at Karan Nagar where his ultrasound revealed that he has a serous problem.
Ophthalmologists fear the boy could lose his sight to injury which has caused “Grade I Hypaema.”
“The condition can further lead to cataract resulting in vision impairment,” said an ophthalmologist who examined the boy.
Despite repeated attempts, the school authorities couldn’t be contacted for comment.
