IAF rigidity
This refers to the news titled “Srinagar airport row reaches Delhi.” Since civil aviation is a sensitive issue, the Indian Air Force must not take the issue of landing instrument lightly. It should be commissioned as soon as possible. Your editorial titled “Airport affairs” has rightly pointed out the need to have the Srinagar airport exclusively for civil purposes. That way managing things can be very smooth at the airport. The state’s Civil Aviation department can take up the matter of ILS with the Defense Ministry and ensure that it is commissioned as soon as possible. We often face the problem of cancellation of flights due to bad weather conditions in winter. If the ILS is made functional, that problems can be overcome. And then it is the question of the safety of passengers. The airport must have all the facilities so that the passengers or pilots don’t suffer while landing or taking off from the Srinagar airport. Also the civil aviation ministry must look into the reasons cancellation of the sole Dubai-Srinagar flight. The IAF must shun rigidity and commission the ILS soon.
