Mir, Vietnam Ambassador discuss agriculture

Srinagar, May 28: Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to India, Vu Quang Diem called on J&K’s Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir here today. They discussed the modalities of a joint venture between the state and the Vietnamese Agriculture experts for boosting Agriculture production on scientific basis in the State.
The Ambassador was accompanied by the Commercial Counsellor, Mr. Nguyen Son Ha and Economic Counsellor, Mr. Pharm Ngoc Uyen, Joint secretary of Union Ministry of Industries and commerce, Mr. Robin Sharma, Chairman APEDA, Mr. Asit Triphati during the meeting, an official statement said.
Minister of State for Agriculture, Mr. Javid Ahmad Dar, Principal Secretary, Mr Iqbal Khanday, Director Agriculture Kashmir, Director Sericulture, Director Agriculture Jammu and Director Command Area Kashmir was present on the occasion.
Mir and the Ambassador debated various issues in the the Agriculture sector and while interacting discussed various the measures for boosting the agricultural production with a high yield varieties involving the minimal land use.
Diem said that since the climatic and geographical conditions of both the areas are same a team would be sent here to exchange the technical know how between the two countries
While enumerating the various initiatives undertaken by the government for commercialization of the agriculture and related activities said that special thrust has been given to the introduction of hybrid varieties of different crops and diversifying crop plantation and also introducing double crop to have a maximum agricultural yield to make the sate self sufficient vis –a –vis food grains, vegetables, fruits and other related varieties.
