SAARC meet
This refers to the latest round of talks between leaders of India and Pakistan at Thimpu. It heralds a new beginning in the relationship between the two countries, notwithstanding the absolute failure of the preceding ones. However, unlike the past, there needs to be a certain degree of commitment from both sides this time to resolve all outstanding issues amicably. The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation as an international body can play its role to help break the ice between India and Pakistan. The world bodies like UN and SAARC can’t remain mute spectators to anything. The world community must pay heed to the issues facing the two nations, including the vexed Kashmir dispute.
