Surprising stand
The stand taken by Jama’at-e-Islam after the book “Qaidi Inqilab
Ek Tareekh Aur Tahreek” by Dr. Shafi Shariati hit the market, is condemnable. It seems that Jama’at has fallen into a big dilemma after people came to know the reality about it vis-à-vis freedom movement. Perhaps that’s the reason that Jama’at is cursing Geelani Sahib either by refuting that he is its representative or by suspending him from the basic membership. They are not dealing with the author. No doubt that Jam’aat laid sacrifices more than any other organization during the movement.
But they are responsible for destroying their organization and ideology. They must accept the truth that Jam’aat changed from their basic stand which they took before and during 90’s. They were bound to have that stand afterwards. They must accept that it is only Geelani Sahib among all other Jama’at activists who permanently remained rigid on the stand. They must accept that it was because of Geelani Sahib’s stand that Jama’at had gained so much faith during the movement.
Besides Geelani, there are other big names in Jama’at but there is none who can be compared with Geelani Sahib in terms of strength and bravery, and contribution towards the movement.
