VDC members hurt in militant attack

Jammu, May 2: Two Village Defence Committee members were injured when a group of militants attacked two residential houses in village Koti of Doda district, police said here Sunday.
Reports said two persons were seriously injured after a group of armed men, believed to be militants, attacked the houses of Chuni Lal and Rakesh Kumar, during the wee hours.
The armed men opened indiscriminate fire and lobbed grenades towards the houses during which two VDC members were injured. The militants, however, fled from the place, police sources said.
The injured VDC members were airlifted to Jammu hospital for treatment.

2 MINORS HURT IN BLAST
Two minor brothers suffered critical injuries after an explosive device, they were fiddling with, went off at village Dhar in mountainous Doda district on Sunday, police said.
Official sources said Rehan Ahmed (3) and Burhan Ahmed (10), sons of Abdul Latief Attoo, of village Dhar, were injured when an abandoned explosive device, with which they fiddl after finding it from the nearby fields, exploded.
On hearing the explosion, the villagers rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the district hospital, from where they were later referred to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu. However, their condition was stated to be out of danger. 
It was the same spot where an alleged Pakistani militants Sumama was killed by the security forces during an encounter few months back, sources said, adding that “Some explosive device might have been left in the area unnoticed which exploded in the hands of unsuspecting minors.”
