Car lifters gang of busted

Srinagar, May 29: Ganderbal Police has busted a gang of alleged car lifters by arresting five persons. Six vehicles including three Maruti 800, one Van and two Bikes were recovered from them.
Police identified arrested as Mehboob Ahmad Wani, Muhammad Rafiq Shah, Muhammad Sarwar Khan Ghulam Muhammad Mir and Ashiq Ahmad Marazi.
The gang was busted after Sub Inspector Manzoor Ahmad incharge Police Post Shadipora arrested Mehboob in the FIR No. 59/2010 regarding theft of a Maruti Van. Subsequent investigations under the supervision of Dy. SP Headquarters Ganderbal, Al Tahir Geelani and SHO Ganderbal, Arshad Ahmad Khan, resulted in the recovery of other stolen vehicles and bikes and led to the arrest of other members of the gang, police said.
The following vehicles were recovered from the accused: Maruti Van JK01E/1143, Maruti 800 DL3GJ/2895, Maruti 800 JK01B/4344, Maruti 800 JK02AA/9247, Hero Honda Motorcycle JK01F/8319 and Pulsar Motorcycle without registration.
Police said instigations were on and some more arrests and recoveries were expected.
