Fire erupts in CRPF camp, Police lines

Jammu, May 29: At least seven tents and nine vehicles were damaged when a fire broke out in a CRPF camp and Traffic Police Lines complex in Jammu district, police said.
The fire broke out in the CRPF camp of 136 battalion at Usman Dawar area in Nagrota belt at the outskirts of Jammu city late last night, they said.
Due to high speed winds, the blaze soon spread to other parts of the camp, housing tents for troopers, destroying seven tents.
Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was controlled. Short circuit is said to be the reason behind the fire.
However, no loss of life or injury has been reported to anyone in the incident, they said.
In another incident, the fire broke out at Traffic Police Lines in Gulshan grounds here last night, they said adding nine vehicles, beddings, uniforms and other items o army jawans were gutted in it. Six kiosks were burnt down in Narwal area of the city early today and two in Gole Gujral area of the city, they said.
One shop and a house was also gutted in the fire in R S Pura and Bishnah areas of Jammu and Samba districts today, they said, adding that the fire erupted due to a short circuit.
