Geelani shifted to Central Jail

DEMANDS IWCT PROBE INTO ‘TRIPLE MURDER’

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, May 29: The Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, was Saturday shifted to Srinagar Central Jail.
A Hurriyat (G) spokesman, Ayaz Akbar, said Geelani, who was arrested by police outside his Humhama residence on Friday, was shifted from Humhama police station to Central Jail at 3.30 pm under RPC 107/151. “At 8.30 pm, he was shifted to SK Institute of Medical Science, Soura, for a check-up,” he told Greater Kashmir in the evening.
Meanwhile, the veteran leader sought intervention of the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, in “murder” of three civilians by Army at Nadihal, Rafiabad.
The incident, he said, should be probed by the International War Crime Tribunal (IWCT) so that the perpetrators were brought to justice.
“Instead of holding meetings in cozy rooms with the state authorities, the British delegation in Kashmir should meet the families whose nears and dears have been killed by the armed forces,” Geelani, according to a party statement, said.
Rejecting the government probe into the Machil killings, Geelani said no independent inquiry was ever held into such incidents, nor was any culprit punished.  “Such announcements are only made to ease public pressure and buy time to shelve the cases ultimately,” he said.
Commenting on the chief minister Omar Abdullah’s recent statement that Kashmiris’ blood had become cheap, Geelani said, “Omar has never dared to say that BSF, CRPF and STF have made the Kashmiris’ blood cheap."
Geelani urged the Amnesty International to take cognizance of the Machil killings and raise voice against the human rights abuses in Kashmir.
He thanked the people for observing complete shutdown on the arrival of Sonia Gandhi in the state. “This exemplary shutdown should serve as an eye opener to Indian rulers. Sonia Gandhi should understand the reality that the map of Kashmir is not the one shown by her puppet rulers in New Delhi,” he said.
Reiterating the Shopian Chalo for Sunday, Geelani said, “This day will be observed in memory of all our daughters whose chastity and honour was ravaged by the troops as a war weapon".
Meanwhile Hurriyat leaders, Muhammad Ashraf Sehria, Muhammad Ashraf Laya and Zamrooda Habib were put under  house arres,  Akbar said..
