Srinagar, May 30: The Committee for the Release of Political Prisoners has denied the media reports that Afzal Guru had submitted application to the Supreme Court to expedite his execution.
Afzal has been sentenced to death in the parliament attack case
In a statement, the Committee quoting Afzal Guru said, “He had urged the SC to take a quick decision on the case. He had also put the plea to transfer him to Kashmir if it is further getting delayed.”
Afzal also criticized lawyer ND Pancholi, who claimed to speak on Afzal’s behalf, telling the media that the convict wished to be hanged early. He said Pancholi was not his lawyer and did not represent him in any court at any time.
