Police uses force to quell Gujjar demo

Srinagar, May 3: Police on Monday used force to disperse members of the Gujjar community who had assembled in central Kashmir’s Budgam district to highlight the problems being faced by them.      
 Scores of Gujjars led by the state president of Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha, Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal took out a procession in Budgam town against what they called “indifferent attitude” of the government towards their community.  
 Policemen intercepted them and used batons to disperse them. 
  “Several protesters were injured in the police action, two of them seriously and they have been hospitalized,” an ABGM spokesman said in a statement.
