‘Skill development mission priority area’
2 polytechnic colleges being considered for degree courses

Jammu, May 5: Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, youth Services & Sports, R S Chib while addressing the staff and students of Women Polytechnic College, Jammu said that Technical Education for “Women” under the “Skill Development Mission” Government of India is a priority area.
Chib said that we have to ensure that our women folk are adequately technically trained in order to bring them at par with the boys. He said that many ITI’s in the state are going to have women wings and some of the IT IS’s will be totally dedicated to women for their technical training. Chib said that the “SKILL DEVELOPMENT MISSION” at the state level is being personally monitored by Omar Abdullah dynamic young Chief Minister of J&K State.
Chib while interacting with the students informed that a proposal is already pending with government to facilitate all those students who want lateral entry in the degree courses. He said, that two Polytechnic Colleges one at Jammu and one at Srinagar is being considered for Degree Courses. He further added that the government is quite serious about it in order to provide this facility to the needy students.
The Minister took round of all the laboratories and classrooms of Women Polytechnic College, Jammu and expressed his unhappiness over certain lose practices being followed by the faculty members in the teaching and laboratory areas.
