‘Field independent candidates in Panchayat polls’

Kupwara, May 7: The members of Pahari Cultural and Welfare Forum Kupwara have asked its Chairman Sharafat Ali Khan to withdraw support from National Conference and field independent candidates in the upcoming Panchayat elections.
 In a statement, the Forum said a meeting was held at Branwari here with Sharafat Ali Khan in chair.
 “The NC has been using smaller parties for their own gains,” the members said and criticized the government for ignoring the Paharis.
 It said that members emphasized on chairman to continue the struggle for getting scheduled tribe status for the community.
