SKIMS overcrowd
This refers to Prof. Khuroo's article SKIMS - the myth of overcrowd. Analogies used speak of author's in-depth understanding of the subject. SKIMS is possibly taking a track which can create problems in the future. The primary and secondary health-care is not upto the mark. I am witness to countless number of incidents where a medical officer on duty simply dispatches patient to a tertiary care center. We need to strengthen the system at village level. I wonder why don't we learn some lessons from an institution like army. I saw army medical officers working so passionately, even in cutoff areas like Batalik in Kargil. They don't complain about their being away from the family. Bottom line is that we have lost commitment towards our profession.
